If you have Medicare in Florida, the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is your once-a-year window to review and change your coverage. Here's what to know.

Key dates

  • October 15 – December 7: Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. Changes take effect January 1.
  • January 1 – March 31: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment — a second window if you're already in an MA plan.

What you can change during AEP

  • Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (or back).
  • Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another.
  • Join, drop, or switch a Part D prescription drug plan.

Why you should review every year

Florida has 611 Medicare Advantage plans for 2026, and plans change their networks, drug formularies, and benefits annually. The plan that was best last year may not be this year. See our Florida Medicare Advantage guide.

Before you enroll

Confirm your doctors and prescriptions are covered, and compare out-of-pocket maximums — not just premiums. Not sure what's covered? Check our "Does Medicare cover it?" guide, or get free help from a licensed agent.
